bromantic comedies
amanda: Did you read that jason segal interview popcandy linked to?
catherine: no!
amanda: stoller's brother is basically set up like his partner, like the next judd apatow the way this thing reads
catherine: wow, nice. is it on pop candy today?
amanda: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/13/movies/13itzk.html?_r=1&ref=movies&oref=slogin#
catherine: sweet, thank you
catherine: it's funny, i feel like these sort of films are like chick lit movies, except, dude lit
like all they write about are relationships and women
which is funny when you think about it for traditional male roles in hollywood
amanda: YES
completely
and if you've been paying attention to this, the romantic comedies for women lately have truly sucked for the most part
catherine: yeah, no kidding
amanda: i'll be the first to admit that there are a lot of rom coms in my list of favorite movies, but the fare in the past few years has blown
maybe the tide is shifted into like... dude rom
catherine: man, men are co-opting the most annoying stereotypical part of being a female (bad chick lit and romantic comedies) and making it successful
amanda: BASTARDS
catherine: DAMN YOU JUDD APATOW
amanda: while women get all the crime fighting roles
it's a crazy mixed up world we live in
but, ya know
i'd rather see women kicking ass and men crying over a breakup
honestly
catherine: me too!
